If you are a dedicated skier, you may not have considered going to the mountains in the summer. However, if you make the trip to Les Gets, you will fall in love with the mountains all over again. The village is in bloom with flowers everywhere, the restaurants and bars have tables on the pavements for al fresco dining and the vibe is open air and relaxed.
What is there to do? Many of the ski lifts are open from mid June to provide access to the mountains for biking and hiking. In the summer, Les Gets hosts a number of mountain biking events including the Crankworx biking and music festival and the Muc-Off Dual Speed & Style competitions.
Biking not your thing? How about swimming in the swimming lake with the “Total Wipeout” style adventure course. Or try canyoning, parapenting, horse riding, bowling and archery.
For the less energetic, there are health spas and museums and arts centres to visit.
Finally make sure you have a round of golf on the 18 hole course – and try to work out which ski run you are playing your ball down!
